Thoughts on this brand

I am looking at purchasing this Gv2 by Gevril, but can’t find much on them. I know Gevril is a great brand with rich history, which is what attracts me to this watch. I usually don’t own anything with green in it so this is out of my comfort buy. The only thing that is making me not buy it is that the Gevril Wall Street runs a Sellita Swiss movement but this doesn’t say the model movement, just that it is Swiss. Any thoughts and comments would be helpful if anyone has had experience with this brand and if it is worth spending the money.

I'd have no problem owning one. Seen a bunch on Jomashop. 👍

The Gv2 brand by Gevril or Gevril itself. I found that GV2 is a sub brand or line of Gevril

Either, but I thought the Gv2 was a line, versus a separate brand by them. I could be wrong.

Maybe it's like:

I thought it was a line too based on how the website on Gevril shows all the watches but I read an article that it’s a sub brand. Not sure how much merit that holds

·

I’ll wager the movement is Sellita standard grade cal SW200. A solid workhorse movement.

·

From what I understand the GV2 line is the entry point for the Gevril. They do make a Gevril like it. It is more expensive but it is a better watch. The movement is a sellita. But that's just more reason to get it. Service can be done by any competant watchmaker.

Is the GV2 not a sellita then? I can see by the Gevril one being better with the jubile bracelet but don’t see a big difference in them

Are you also saying I should get the Gv2 ?

I have a Gevril not G2. It's sw200 is very accurate it's running plus 1.6 seconds a day.

G2 is their lesser brand. If you have the choice get the higher end Gevril version you will not be disappointed. They use better movements in the Gevril ones

·

Just get in line for the Rolex, if you live that long.

Lol hence the reason why I won’t get a Rolex

Right G2 uses a couple lesser model movements that don't run as well. The sw200 Gevril I have runs better than superlative Chrono

If you can swing the Gevril, get it. It's a lot nicer.

I've seen both. They are awfully close. The jubilee is nice, the bezel is better, and all around the finishing. Not sure on the movement.

I found the GV2 for under $500. Even though I could get the Gevril I think this is a deal I can’t pass up

·

Ashford has it for under 350. They also have the Gevril GMT for under 800. Both seems good deals. Nordstrom has the non GMT for 770

Yes, that’s where I found it is on ashford, which I have never used before. I just ordered it, just hope ashford is reputable. Worst case I return it or sell it if possible. Thanks for all your help and everyone else too. I think this is a good purchase. It will be my birthday present :)

They are legit.

Never heard of it. Went to the website, maybe they have their own designs but mostly saw Rolex homages and maybe Omega, but for way more than the likes of SM, Pagani, or Steinhart. They have a Day Date for $3500. The few that I looked at, Submariner, DJ, Daydate rip offs used Sellita. Like Steinhart but a Swiss company and 4 times as much. Hmmm. 🤔

So I just found the Wall Street on sale at Jomashop for $140 more than what I paid. I ordered that one as well since everyone on this thread and YouTube videos I found does show the Gevril line and movement much better. Now hopefully I can cancel my ashford order as even though the UPS label as been created it hasn’t shipped yet, if not I have to hope they give me a refund and not screw me over. I know I will lose out on the shipping the watch back. I think I made the right move

Thank you for the help. I just hope now the ashford purchase doesn’t blow up in my face and I don’t get refunded the entire amount lol if not I will have a watch to sell for a cheap price hahaha

·

Fingers crossed. 🤞 Let us know how it works out.

So Ashford was able to pull back my order and refunded immediately. Jomashop shipped my watch in 1 day. I will put a quick pick here before I do a full post

Have you experienced any issues with the movement becoming an hour behind? For some reason today it fell a complete hour behind and I am worried maybe something is wrong with the movement. I went to change the time and date and the crown was not moving smoothly. Felt like I was changing the date when moving the hour and minute hand

No, they use pretty standard robust movements, either sellita or ETA. Make sure that you wind it fully, 20-25 times before wearing.

·

Also in worse case, they are warranted. I have had far more expensive watches have issues new. I would contact them, or take it to a real watchmaker for a look. Maybe something came loose.

Maybe that’s my problem. It didn’t actually stop. Just was an hour behind. I don’t have any watch experts in the area so I will call Gevril tomorrow. Hopefully they will honor the warranty since I bought it of Jomashop
