Power Reserve Question

OK, so, my Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical has an 80 hour power reserve. I haven't worn it for at least 3-4 weeks (probably longer). When I went to take it out of my watch box this morning, it was running! Time was WAY off. So, it's not like it was running for 4 weeks. But have y'all seen this before? How could it be running at all after not being touched for so long?

I'm betting that some motion freed it up to overcome that last little bit of resistance, opening a lid or something?

·

Yes, any motion (such as picking up a watch) can get a stopped watch going again for a short time. Even if it's hand wound.

Poltergeists. Nothing you can do except send it to an expert in paranormal activity who can deal with those pesky spirits. It is now useless to you as you will only encounter even more incidents like this the longer they exist in your home.

That was my initial theory. I've felt the ghost of Hans Wilsdorf near for quite a while. This simply affirms my experience.

I wouldn't mind being haunted by the ghost of Hans Wilsdorf. Maybe he could help me out and haunt an AD until they send me a Rolex or two.

Let your mechanical watch die, then give it a little shake, it will probably start sweeping again. just residual energy.

Have you noticed how long that 80 hours really is in watch life? Wind that badbiy up then ser it down for a few days. It's ridiculous how strong this little winder runs

It's them wristwatch gremlins, I tell ya!

That’s crazy why it was still running.🤔

as for it’s performance it’s best to keep the watch at about 75% power reserve for best performance, I recall from another podcast. I use a watch winder for my Hamilton Khaki King & Field Auto. They keep excellent time with the winder set at 850 turns per day both clock-wise & counter clockwise.
