This or that?

Trying to decide what my next watch should be. It’s between a Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 with a black dial and a Hamilton Khaki Field Auto.

Tell me, this or that?

·

I find the Tissot soulless. But then I’m biased.

I agree with this assessment.

Its like comparing Buick with Oldsmobile. Both are owned by Swatch and one has an upgraded version of the others movement. Buy the pretty one.

They’re both pretty. Haha

You can’t go wrong with both… I’d honestly consider the PRX with the green dial, it looks almost black in some light.

I have handled both of these and find their appeal very different. The PRX is my showpiece, it's very glittery and shiny. The Hamilton is a serious field watch that's thin and humble.

One gripe about Hamilton is that their AR coating is very poor. Reflections are a big problem for visibility, indoors especially when there are multiple light sources.

·

I would get the PRX is you already have another watches in your collection. Or go for the Tissot Gentleman if you want a little more versitility.

Hamilton is good but the lack of AR and WR issues is a big no go for me personally. The legibility can be bothering.

·

I see all the complaints about the lack of AR on the Hamilton, but I’ve had no issues even in very bright lighting. Sure, you get reflections but you can still read the time easily.

I see it more as a celebration of glass as a material. The brushed SS has one quality, the polished SS another, the burst dial has its thing, the record grooves beneath the hours adds interest, and the glass adds shifting beauty to the mix.

Everything changes as it moves, but it’s still completely legible.

·

This has been some of the best advice. I appreciate all the insight! Definitely hasn’t made the choice any easier though. Haha just expanded my love for both. I currently have a Seiko 5 Series Dive Watch with a blue dial/bezel, and the Casio G-Shock Lovers edition from 2022 in my collection.
