I was considering this Citizen but it is 1.5k more than I want to spend. Very comparable to a GS. The finishing on the watch is incredible with one of Citizen's most accurate quartz movements, not a GS but pretty close. Some do not like the bird on the dial but I have no problem with it.
A watch itself serves a purpose but if you can get the same function with the same quality in a cheaper presentation then the more expensive one can be perceived as a luxury.
Not to cause any waves but for those of you in the USA for the same price, you can go to Costco and get a Glycine which in my opinion is a nicer-looking tool watch and if you do not like it Costco offers the best return policy.
I have a watch with a retrograde date complication, two watches one with GMT and Dual time complications, and a full calendar including the Moon phase. I have a rental property in Thailand so knowing the time overseas at a glance at my wrist is important so my favorite complication is GMT/Dual time watches. Btw, I like my annual calendar with the moon phase but setting the complications after letting the watch sit around is a pain in the ass.
I would like to see CW have a mechanical alarm like the Jeager LeCoultre Memovox and like the JLC a simple one with a classic presentation, and most of all affordable because if they are priced competitively I would go with the JLC.
No, I think they do it whenever they need to fund their newest project. The Kickstarter I took part in was when they introduced two new in-house movements. I think the latest Kickstarter is to fund the new Micro rotor movement
