Your least favourite watch

So I’ve got a question for all crunchers about your least favourite, even ‘disliked’ watches, see this is my collection so far.

The Casio & the Timex are getting replaced soon, the Casio for another Casio, a casioak ‘mod’ watch which looks like a stealth bomber! And the timer, with another timex I plan to use as a ‘holiday watch’ as the dial makes me think of waves on the ocean

However then there’s my seiko 5. It’s taken the role of my anchor watch, it’s how I gauge if I like or dislike a watch. Do I dislike my seiko? In some ways yes I do. Do I like my seiko? Also yes in some ways.

I feel as though if I get rid of my seiko for something else then another watch will simply become the new watch I constantly look at and think of replacing, but that in a way makes the seiko have it’s very important role in my collection, very much a yin and yang thing.

Anybody else feel the same with any watches in their collection?

Yes

Been wearing my Grail (which I've had for 3 years) continuously for the last week or so, & decided to wear my latest addition today, and I can't help but feel huge disappointment whenever I look at my wrist.

Really gotta have a cull of maybe 6-7 and get another more prestigious piece to avoid future disappointment. 🤔👍🏻

I actually dislike my Timex Expedition Acadia. The reasons are: 1. The Indiglo quit working, and what’s a Timex without Indiglo, right? And 2. The second hand is grey and blends in with the black dial. I am seriously thinking of replacing it with another Bertucci as I have other Timexes with functional Indiglo. I’ll decide next week!

That’s something that has always scared me when thinking of buying a grail watch, making the rest of my collection obsolete

I have two proper luxury watches I’d like to buy, a Tudor and an Omega and I’m not sure if I’d ever choose to wear my Gentleman for example over a Tudor

Yes, I have some watches I dislike and I use them for parts or just toss them aside because i have no connection to them. But definetly not the Seiko 5! Its been my daily beater for sooo long and i stil wear it when I do something, where a watch get scratched. Sometimes, when you change just the dial, you can inject new life in to a watch and enjoy it like on day one. That is what I plan to do with mine. But hey, if you really want to get rid of it, go for it. Make room for new stuff.

I’m going to say this 37mm Captain Cook. To be fair to the watch and myself, I didn’t pick this one. I had the green 42mm Captain Cook but my wife decided that she preferred that one. So she swapped me her Captain Cook for mine.

Having said that, if I still had the green one in my rotation, it would still be on the chopping block. It’s a really cool watch in desperate need of a decent bracelet.

this is one I like the least from my modest collection:

I don't HATE it ... it's just that it doesn't seem to be of the same quality as a near-identical model I daily-drove for several years back in the 90's. It is a decent "Beater" though and I wear it when I play guitar because it's sooooooo light weight ... it's perfect for that!

You see this seiko I feel I’d be able to settle with more than the one I have currently, I think it’s simply the size I’d prefer slightly larger

Not a bad thing, I'm more of a strap/bracelet collector now and it's far cheaper!!

Can only recommend you go for it, life's too short!

Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

Yeah, I get it. It is quite small.

I have a Shinola Guardian that I hardly ever wear. Love its look but for some reason I never choose to wear it.

It’s a slippery slope. My collection grew from just enjoying different designs and brands…which is great. However I have picked up a couple of nice/ solid pieces along the way that have made me reflect on what I really want. Now I am looking to go from two watch boxes to one…”only” 8 total 😉
