Best watch colors for dressing up?!

Which do you prefer when more formal attire is needed?

My wife dresses me. I have no idea 😁😉

My dress watch is the only light dial in my collection (silver sunburst), so I guess that means I prefer light.

Dress watches for me should be simple and light. If you look at the Patek Calatrava or Vacheron Patrimony, it's about slim cases, light dials, minimal text and indices, and a leather strap:

I wouldn't wear either of those with formal attire.

Depends on the outfit and occasion. I’d go darker for an interview, wake or funeral. Light for more festive, like a wedding, etc.

That watch is inherently not dressy. Either color is equally non-dressy. If you're going to wear a dive-style watch with formal/dress attire, you are communicating to the world your flagrant disregard of the rules of style.

And that's OK. But it also means that it doesn't matter which color you wear, so just buy the watch you prefer and wear it with pride, rules be damned!
