Everyone always talks about the VC Overseas blue dial, here's the white dial

I still prefer the blue, lacquered dial way more, but I never saw the "white" dial in person before, so I thought I'd share. It's more silvery in reality. The blue one has a beautiful sunburst effect (different, of course, to that an0rdain dial that was just posted). If you think that's expensive at 6k, this one is 3.5x more! Is it "worth" it? Dunno... Some were saying the an0rdain with a basic sellita movement isn't worth it. What about $22k (retail...which isn't attainable and therefore, not a real price?) for this:

  • Iconic design (a bit polarizing though...my wife calls this a jagged ugly star)

  • 150m WR

  • Fairly slim at 11mm

  • 3 bracelets/straps with quick release system (super comfortable bracelet!)

  • Nicely decorated movement and gold rotor (Geneva seal, so it passes a high standard of finishing and accuracy)

  • Some anti-magnetic properties about 200-400 gauss, which is like 20-40% of the Milgauss

  • 60h power reserve is not bad

That's just a bunch of specs (some grasping at straws) since the An0rdain skeptics were boiling things down to cold, hard facts. But, our hobby is more than just the quantitative elements and, for me, I love the dial, case, small details (Maltese cross style in the bracelet), and the sporty luxury side of the watch. A winner in my books and happy to wait in the queue as I'm definitely not paying grey market prices.

A few pics for fun - white dial my pics, the others from the interwebs.

What do you guys think. Yeah, it's expensive, but we can all dream right?

It's a gorgeous watch for sure! As you pointed out I've only seen the blue dial variant

·

I'd be allllll over that silver dial if I could get my hands on one.

·

The watch is grail level but for me in blue, this dial blends too much with SS. It is definitely better deal at 22k than those hyped an0rdain for 6k. I don't get the fuss about their craftmanship enamel dials. They look nice but UN does them for century and can get them at retail for app. 10k. Not to mention their chronometer history with in-house UN118 movement ( mine runs within 1s per day, silicone spring, finish ...) with small seconds and power reserve complication and overall watch finish but nobody gives them any credit.

·

I got hands on with this silver Dualtime overseas here in Dubai. I have to say I much prefer it in black. The silver just didn’t wear as well for some reason.

This one wasn't really available as it was waiting to be picked up by a wait list client. I HAD to have a look myself. It's a very clean look, that's for sure.

Huh, I never knew UN does enamel dials. I'll have to take a look. I got caught up in the enamel hype, but the enameling looks a bit not so refined as compared to like a credor. maybe that's the look they're going after. For me, it was the font. Something about that don't didn't really sit right. Kinda looked like a nomos font; but elongated.

Oh yeah they had the silver dial time as well, but I didn't want to touch both of them. I haven't seen the black dial yet, but from forum comments, it also looks very nice in person as compared to pics.

i agree. i too prefer the white/silver dial to the blue. the blue colour is a bit too…rich/dark/deep for my liking.

i actually had the chance to try on the Overseas Dual Time in white at the AD. but they were selling it on consignment with a crazy markup so i passed on it. but i put my name down on the list for one that very day. i don’t know if i’ll ever get it. but it’s nice to dream.

Never heard of an AD doing consignment and at a marked up price, that's nuts.

UN is one of great masters of enameling, look here:

https://www.ulysse-nardin.com/zh_en/enamel and interesting article here: https://loupiosity.com/2018/07/the-art-of-enamelling-visiting-ulysse-nardin/

There are also many articles how they do it and different levels/detailing, definitely one of the best ( if not the best ) enamel master in the industry. And price difference between entry level limited Torpilleur enamel dial vs. "normal" is 2.000€. It is not just enamel hype, it is microbrand+enamel. It is great to see microbrands doing these complicated techniques but please without unjustified glorification. Nowadays I think whatever micobrands execute outside pure generic scope ( design, dials, materials ... ) we bow to that like they invented something never done before.

That was a nice read, thanks!

The Overseas has always been on my grail list, but I love the black dial. The blue is beautiful and I would never pass on it, but it doesn’t do it for me quite like the black one does.

·

My Dad has the previous model with the white guilloche dial and Arabics. These are great pieces.

·

I actually got to try the same one on recently and loved it! It looks great on you 😇

Thanks! The picture makes it look slightly larger, but I tried it on again yesterday and fits well. This time... I tried on this baby! The picture is in the below post
