Seiko SLA071

After 2 months of ownership, there are only 2 things that niggle me about this Seiko. 1. Is the bracelet clasp. Seiko are renowned for sub par bracelets and this is no exception. The main body of the bracelet is ok, but the male end links and the cheap looking clasp spoil it.

2. The crown. This surprises me as Seiko usually do a good job on crowns. This one feels like a design after thought. It's fiddly and lacking in grip. The screwdown doesn't feel great either.

This highlights again my frustration with companies like Seiko that make 'almost' watches- there's always an area that's glaringly lacking.

Having said that I still adore this watch

I think most brands make watches that are 'almost' watches. They find a way of just falling short of perfect every time. The modification to make it perfect is usually very simple.

Looks epic👌

Always good to see someone remain critical of a watch while still liking it; those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Sub-par crown action is my biggest dealbreaker on watches, however I'm sure there's a level of OCD overthinking on my end just by the nature of my obsession with watches.

All requirements to be watch idiots like us 🤣🤣

I just purchased the newer GMT diver, and the jingly bracelet is part of the Seiko experience. Even my Grand Seiko' s bracelet, albeit much nicer still has that "Seiko" jingle jangle. But that's what gives them the Seiko personality.

Don’t forget. This is what Titanium feels like to some people. Cheap! I have the same Landmaster 30th Anniversary and I love it. So glad it’s made fully in Titanium. It’s so well made and light, sometimes I don’t even think it’s on my wrist. Seiko nailed this one imo.

Hi Philip, take the bracelet off and put it back in the box. Then experiment with Rubber and NATO's it will look even better.👍😉

I actually like the main 'body' of the bracelet, it's the pressed clasp that I don't like the look of but tbh it works great. I will experiment with different straps in the summer- got my eyes on royal blue tropic , think it will really suit it
