Oddly compelled to wear this…

I’ve been wearing my 29r almost every day for about a week. It’s not really an ‘obvious’ watch to my mind, but I find it arresting and I’m glad to own it.

My only gripe - and it’s a really irksome, right under the skin grievance that relates to the date wheel.

It’s horribly badly matched to the dial. Honestly, I find it completely inexcusable. How hard is it for a Glashutte watch company to get a properly matched date ring?

I’m going to inquire with them to see if they’ve corrected this. I bought, I think, one of their first batch. I know I asked for the then-current catalog from the AD, and I bought the watch quite quickly after a few discussions with the AD.

I hope they’ve fixed it. I really think this is an otherwise damn handsome watch!

Ha! 🤔(thinks: “Are all watch enthusiasts so disturbingly picky?”)

I totally agree with your gripe and if Glashutte have talked heed they should ask you to return the watch to have it updated free of charge.

Well, I hope they at least send a proper date wheel. My local watchmaker can do the job; there’s nothing strange or difficult about the movement.

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

Cheers! 🍻

it took me a moment to realise the date-wheel was a slightly different hue from the dial, which i also found surprising

then i started messing around with the thumbnail,, using [ctrl] [-] to reduce the size of the image in my browser, and realised that with the small variation in tone i could pick out the date wheel a little easier on the dial

not saying this was a deliberate design choice, but it does seem to make the window more accessible/legible, drawing one's eye a little

given that it's barely noticable to anyone other than the guy with it stuck to his arm, i'd probably roll with it - enjoying that touch of idiosyncrasy

oh and yes, that is a very attractive and 'arresting' piece... and i think the date window might just play a part in that grabbing of ones attention

it certainly got mine - lovely

Major MG fan here but I don't own a 29er. That Bauhaus style is a major draw to this brand for me. I'd be willing to forgive the date wheel issue or simply get the white/silver dial version of the same watch.

Thanks. You make a reasonable point, but I’m still pretty picky about a $1000.00+ watch. The matching colour would not, in my opinion, make the printed date less legible.

Lovely to see a Mühle Glashütte on here. I plan to pick up a SAR RT shortly. They're an underrated brand in my opinion.

I agree. Those SARs are very cool! Great choice. 😃
