Blued steel watch case?

Does anybody know of any watch brand that makes a blued steel watch case. We all see the heat blued hands and screws but I have always wondered if there is a blued steel watch case? Is it even something that would sale? I have always loved the look of worn out revolvers that had a blue finish. All I can find is blue stainless steel which is not the same thing. People like bronze watches because they patina. I think it would look really cool but maybe that is just in my head. Thoughts?

I have never seen one. I don’t really think that they have been manufactured for mass production 🤔

The only thing I can think of is https://zeloswatches.com/products/hammerhead-v3-300m-ti-ti-damascus Damascus dial and bezel (not quite what you asked for though).

In fact, if anyone is gonna do it, I bet it’ll be #zelos

That's funny I was just thinking that was the next material I was going to look for. A Damascus case would be nice to look at too.

I don’t have the Damascus one, but I got the V2 Hammerhead and it’s a tank. Hopefully they bring Damascus back in one of their models 🤞

Their limited special/unique material watches do sell out fast (bit annoying but that’s the strength of the fan base I guess lol). Def wanna add another unique piece from Zelos again.

Zenith Pilot type 20 has an aged steel option

I missed out on this blue case watch from ming when they were sold second hand around 1.4k https://www.ming.watch/products/ming-17-03-ultra-blue-edition other than this, mostly very expensive watches like de bethune

If you're talking about the part of the gun that has a multi color finish, that's actually called "case hardening". The barrel on those guns are what would be called "blued".

Not sure if they would sell "blued" watches as the steel they use is carbon steel and not SS. You can blue SS, but it doesn't come out the same way.

Google: how to blue SS and you'll find a good amount of info on the subject. Buy yourself a cheap SS case off eBay and have some fun.

Yes I talking about the barrel or the cylinder. I know it's carbon steel that's why I was looking for Damascus cases as well. Thanks for the idea

One reason this isn't popular for watch cases, at least from big brands, is that -- as you may know-- it wears off. It doesn't take much to rub away that thin layer of oxidization on the surface. In fact, some vintage chronographs with blued steel column wheels are no longer blued because the mere actuation of the chronograph wears it off over time.

I would agree that if any smaller brand attempted this, it'd be Zelos.

·

I would also guess it may mess with tolerances as you would need to machine the case fully and then in the heating process metal tends to warp.

I think Maurice lacriox got out a special edition of their integrated watch pvd’d in blue.

Maurice Lacroix Aikon Automatic 39mm Blue PVD

·

Similar to the ML Aikon mentioned earlier, Evant, a micro-brand sold through Gnomon Watches, has a 39mm diver with a PVD blue case:

Looks cool, and while it is not thermally blued a like what you are looking for, this should give you an idea of what that might look like.

Oh that’s a sold point. Never wondered about the durability of the heat treatment coating 🤔
