NWA: Got the call… for my wife

Short story: There is no waitlist… for the right client.

AD: Bucherer (NYC)

Wait time: 2 weeks

Purchase history: $4k- 1 CPO Cartier for my wife in 2023

Long version:

Technically our wait time was 1 year since we put our name down at another Bucherer (KOP). At the time we were told the black MOP (Mother of Pearl) dial is very rare and it’s maybe seen only once a year. So we added her name to the white MOP as well just incase but she always hoped to get the call for the black MOP.

Since we’re in NYC often we’ve been going to the Bucherer there to browse and form a relationship from time to time. Two weeks ago we stopped by the Bucherer in NYC but found out our SA had left the company. We were super disappointed and explained to a new SA that was working that day that we had a relationship with the company but didn’t want to start again at square one. It was a goal for us to get my wife’s watch this year because we’re expecting a child and this would be her birth year heirloom and my wife is expecting a promotion. This would be the perfect gift to commemorate 2024.

Turns out, they had her dream configuration for “exhibition only” that day. We all know, in reality, everything on exhibition is for actually for sale to the right client. The SA checked our buying history and said he would do everything he could for us. Ultimately he had to talk to his manager for approval and if not, get her the next black MOP that comes in.

Of course, 2 weeks to the day, picked up this incredible 31mm DateJust. The pictures don’t do it any justice. It’s a unique dial that changes in the light.

Next up…. Finally getting my Rolex.

Yes we played the “game” but honestly to end up with her dream watch it was worth the wait and hassle. We didn’t buy anything we didn’t want just to get our spend up, just put the time in whenever we could to show we’re extremely serious buyers.

Hope that gives some of you on the “waitlist” some hope.

Thank you so much! Really appreciate it.

On average, how do the waits compare for women’s watches compared to men’s?

Congrats to the wife (the promotion, the soon to be here baby, and the watch). Honestly "the game" is just a little patience. What Rolex do you want? Hopefully yours is quick as well!

Much less in comparison but really depends on the configuration. Mother of Pearl dials are uncommon but others I’d say a few weeks to several months.

Thank you so much! I’m waiting on a 36mm steel datejust with bright blue dial, stick indicators, fluted bezel, and jubilee bracelet. I’ve been waiting for 2 years but 1 year at Bucherer.

Great configuration. I've got the DJ41, Azzurro blue on oyster and smooth bezel. They're all excellent. I find mine extremely versatile. Hopefully you get a call soon!
