A Friday the 13th Surprise

Today I got the call—nope, not the Rolex AD one, but the Citizen one. A month after my 14-year-old's Eco-Drive was damaged in an accident, it's finally back from repair. It has a new movement, new crystal, and checked water resistance, but the bezel still bears scars from the incident.

I picked the watch up today, but I haven't told him yet. It's a Friday the 13th surprise I'm planning for him when I come home.

I would love to hear of his reaction.

When I arrived home he was at the door ready to leave for dancing lessons. He was excited like "whoop whoop!" raising his hands in the air 🕺🕺🕺. Despite being late he quickly swapped the Casio AE-1000W for the Citizen before he left.

You’ve inspired me to dig out my old Victorinox that I purchased in 1996 and wore as my only watch for 15 years until it was catastophrically damaged and “put away” as I couldn’t stomach throwing it away as it travelled the world with me and is attached to many memories. I’m pretty sure it’s going to cost much more than I paid for it to restore, but now plan to take it to a local watchmaker and see what it’ll take.
