“Real diver watch” for a 6-year-old
“Hey dad, can I have a real dive watch like you wear?” ….Challenge accepted little buddy 🤿.
When my son asked me this question, I pointed out to him that he already kinda had one, his Blok 33.
This little kids watch is rated to 100m, includes an monocoque case, a screw down crown, and is ‘barracuda proof’. So on a dive in the Gulf of Mexico I figure I would test that out, and bring him back a “real dive watch”.
Sure on my wrist and a wetsuit it is quite small, but at 67ft it did just fine (short of maybe some helpful lume needed 😉). More importantly, when I took it off and gave it back to my son and showed him where it has been…his face was legendary 😎. He loved the water, and his watch before, now maybe even a little more now 🤿.

Nah, phones rule. I'm 58, and any person who says they would not have LOVED a smartphone as a kid is lying out their ass. If you had come to me in 1980 at 15 and told me I could have a Walkman with ALL my music, all my music videos, games, a camera AND a phone I'd have crawled over broken glass for it. Most of you would too. : ) Smartphones are the game changer of the 21st century.
What replacement strap are you using?
My son wears his watch all the time and it shows premature signs of wear. The velcro is giving out. I found some 17mm natos on aliexpress but I'm not expecting much out of them.
It's so great when watches can become the vessels for these memories ❤

I use CNS 18mm straps 🤙🏼
