Watches you bought just in time?

Granted it is not every day something is discontinued, but have you ever purchased a piece and due to dumb luck, fortune favored you? Does not have to be Rolex, could be a cool G-Shock or pre-order.

Back in 2020 I was lucky enough to go to an AD event and get hands-on with all the releases at the time, and give my indication.  I was really interested in seeing the OPs since they appeared to be a nice callback to the Stella dials, which is an anomaly for an otherwise conservative brand. I always dug how the light plays with the markers and hands on the Coral, particularly on the larger size, as if they are black. Never had an interest in an OP prior to. A year and a half of waiting and turning down every color option, I was finally able to get the Coral last Christmas.

I know this watch is not for everyone (totally get it) and is certainly hard to pull off as an only watch, but for me, it is just a fun piece to have in the mix. The secondary prices are just silly on these and (to me) not worth it. I never sell my watches, so that part is less important, but I am glad to have been able to get one before they stopped making them.

I bought the Hulk at a discount when nobody really wanted them before the current craze.  The value spike hasn’t affected me.  I turned down a guy flashing a six inch thick bundle of hundred dollar bills because if I sell it, I don’t have a Hulk.  I’m happier with the Hulk.

I got OP 36 in white and they discontinued it two weeks after I got it.

For those with the means, selling it doesn’t help if we cannot get it back later, should we want to. Also, the unlikeliest of people who would pay over MSRP.

Double score. Nice. I got the last EXII before it was changed, but the change was so nominal it didn’t make an impact.

Two of them; the Seiko SKX013 and the green dial Timex Marlin automatic.

Bought the SKX013 on a whim when I found it for $209 and the Timex Marlin on sale for $199. The SKX has gone up and I cannot even locate a green dial Marlin.😀
