Micro Tournament Round 1 Day 5: Spinnaker Vs. Vario
Rules:

It hurts to see 2 of my favorite microbrands square off, but I have to give the slightest advantage to Spinnaker. Both are very well made with exceptional quality, props to Spinnaker for listening to the criticism early on and working on fixing the minimal mistakes. Both brands stick to what they’re good at and do a damn good job of it.
Agree with @alex27 but with the slight nod to Vario. I’m impressed by the finishes and creativity of the brand. Two strong entrants slight nod to Vario

I just discovered Vario and loved their watches, especially those "WWI" pieces :
I like Spinnaker too but their smallest watch is 41mm and I tend to prefer sub-40mm diameter..
Didn't have to think twice on this one. Spinnaker is a rehash of old tropes. Vario very much does it's own thing.

Both are cool brands with two different approaches, which makes this tough. I do appreciate the fact that Vario really leans into the military field watch vibe.

I own examples of both.
Spinnaker has the decided edge in models to choose from but Vario ,IMO, is a better quality and more interesting design wise. And where they really shine in in their Customer service.
If this were real March Madness, Spinnaker is the kind of brand that could upset the predicted winner! Vario is original, cool designs, etc. But Spinnakers are spec-monsters, usually insane value for money, and the look is clean and original enough to stand out in a sea of microbrand divers. Little details in a lot of their lines (fume dials, circular cyclops, aluminum bezel inserts, well-finished bracelets for the price, etc.) make them stand out and I think they'd win against the favorites!
