Mido Ocean Star Tribute.

I’m liking the look of the Mido Ocean Star Tribute but I’m reluctant to buy a watch without reviewing it ‘in the flesh’ so to speak.

As far as I can tell Mido watches are not for sale in the UK apart from two Swatch outlet shops. My experience of outlet shops is that they stock mainly old stock of discontinued lines.

Does anyone have any experience of owning the watch and/or have any experience of where to buy the watch.

I have a 200C and would not hesitate buying another one at all...the specs are great

Mido make really nice watches. I suggest you order from an AD or straight from Mido. Grey market almost never has the newer models and if they do they are at flipper prices.

Best of luck! 😃

P.S. I’ve owned one (not a diver) and I gave it to my brother as a gift. He loves it and it’s the only watch he gets random compliments on!

I bought my first Mido this year (the TV Big Date) and the quality is outstanding. I would certainly buy from them again. I also live in a city where a single WoS is the only watch store, so bought it without trying first.

Huge fan of Mido after experiencing a dress watch. I got mine grey market at less than half than retail. No issues with it and I personally don’t need to have the newest toys- I’d even prefer the old stuff if there are no issues and cheaper

I understand. It's a leap of faith. I live in a watch desert. You're lucky to see Citizen and Bulova in jewelry stores

Do it! Then you can report back how much you love it 😉

I had one. It is not a small watch and rather substantial in weight. It is why I sold it but the quality was undeniably excellent. Mido is a good brand, they can be found in Germany rather easily... for some reason.

Thanks for the responses and recommendations regarding Mido watches. I guess I need to call one of the swatch outlets stores to see if they have any Ocean Stars to have a look at.

·

I have two Mido's, a Belluna Chrono and the Ocean Star GMT I've also worn for several weeks and reviewed the TV big date and the Ocean Star 600 Cosc

I love Mido they are on of my favorite brands specially in the gray market where they can be found heavily discounted

Here’s one of the last Mido’s I reviewed

Thanks, great review.

I’m not against buying from a grey market dealer but none seem to be available in the UK. Importing from the US will add around 20% to the price making the deal much less attractive.

I’ve confirmed with the two outlet stores in the UK that they only stock discontinued lines so that’s a no go as well.

My Ocean Star Tribute special edition with the gradient blue dial was delivered today.

First impressions is I’m very pleased with it.

I like the polishing & finishing, the mesh bracelet and the gradient dial. At the moment I’m finding the clasp on the mesh bracelet to be a bit fiddly but I guess that will get easier over the next few days. As expected from watching reviews the lume is nothing to write home about but that’s not an issue to me.

The blue rubber strap is a bit long for my puny wrist but I’m likely to leave on the mesh until next summer and I can deal with it then.

I’ll post a picture when I can.

Beet underrated watches inho

I thought I’d pop the Ocean Star Tribute onto the blue rubber strap which came with it. Suits it quite well I think.
