Musings of a Monta Fan

I’ll start off by admitting that I’ve been an unapologetic Monta fan since their first offering. I own a Triumph, Time-Only Oceanking, first Generation Oceanking, and have added this Noble. I’m biased. I admit it, but I also know what I’m about to say from first hand experience.

To me it’s hard to beat Monta in a pound for pound competition. I know detractors will say that a CW is more affordable or you can get watches with the same movements for less, but most of those criticisms don’t come from actual Monta owners. To hold a Monta in hand is to fall in love with its feel. No watch is an end all for everyone, but you’ll hear the same line from Monta owners time and again… “you can’t beat their fit and finish.“

It’s just buttery smooth. They just feel different.

I’m a proud Omega fan and I’ve owned other marquee Swiss brands, but pound for pound the boys out of St. Louis do a hell of a job positioning themselves alongside the blue bloods of Swiss watches.

Again, just a fan rambling.

You’re amongst friends! To me, as a person who handles and owns far too many watches, they are an absolute bargain and unrivaled value, especially when considering what the sell for on the secondary.

Ive been drooling over the blue noble. def a brand on my list

I own the Triumph, and I agree. My only complaint is that mine averages about -6spd, but I've seen it go well beyond -10spd (depending on how wound the watch is, I'm guessing). I've read everywhere that Monta guarantees +/-5spd, but I don't recall actually seeing that anywhere on their website. Regardless, I think if they tighten up their practices regarding regulation, their watches will be even better.

This is the kind of post that's going to push me over the edge to get the SkyQuest. I'm doing all this calculus with other brands and the Monta seems a few hundred bucks overpriced. BUT I WANT IT ANYWAY. I have this intuition that I'd absolutely adore it.

It’s not overpriced once you get it in hand. There’s a hard to define quality to it. They just have an “it factor” to them. That said, I’m not the biggest fan of the current Skyquest. It’s the only design that I’ve felt that way about. However, by all accounts the proportions are amazing.

Ramble on brother!! I find myself often saying and feeling the same thing when it comes to my Monta's. My first was an Opaline Noble and it now is complimented with a blue steel ocean king. I wear both constantly and absolutely fall in love with them more each time they slide on wrist.

You hit the nail on the head with quality, fit, finish, and the overall pound for pound fight with the bigger name brands. I just recently acquired a Tudor Pelagos, a watch I have lusted over for many years, and I feel that my Monta's are on a very close if not same level from a quality perspective. I'll happily ramble Monta with you all day man! Cheers to a great brand!
