Watch “soulmates”: Seamaster + Black Bay Pro. What about you?

One of the main dilemmas I find in collecting is that some watches can “cannibalise” another. Sometimes however, you strike gold and find that some watches end up complementing each other very well.

Take for example the white Seamaster; a dressy diver with an inky black ceramic bezel and a glossy white wave dial. Note the scalloped bezel and twisted lugs, which in all honesty don’t add much to funtionality but adds a lot to aesthetics. And fitted with a cool grey strap, it gives off an icy vibe.

Contrast that with the blocky and toolish Black Bay Pro with its brushed steel bezel, matte black dial, off-white hands and hour markers and yellow/orange GMT hand.  Unlike the Seamaster, everything about this watch feels utilitarian and built for adventure. The strap of choice is Tudor’s black hybrid strap with off-white stitching to match the hands and indices. This is definitely a warm, fiery watch.

These are currently my top two sports watches and by far the best watches I’ve owned and worn. The best part is that they seem to complete each other, like ice and fire.

Do you guys have any watches that are a match made in heaven?

I have both of those too. Picked up an SSK and it has been on my wrist 3 days in a row. :)

For better or worse, I’ve kinda locked myself into two of the five pieces of my collection and I think they really complement each other. My Nomos Ahoi Neomatik Special Edition and Armin Storm Tribute1 First edition. Between engraving the Nomos for my wedding anniversary and the bath I’d probably take trying to resell the AS, I don’t see moving on from either anytime soon. Which is great seeing as they shared the same lug width and the dozen or so 18mm straps I have. The Ahoi, with its 200m wr is a great GADA watch and the AS makes for an interesting dress watch that can be dressed down, pretty much got everything covered here.
