Is it just me ?

Weird question but not sure if anyone has this annoyance when the minute hand covers the hour hand exactly ? Not sure if manufacturers has the other way around it or that must be the way watches is ? Is there a watch brand or a watch that you've seen with minute hand below hour hand ?

Assume this is due to how the watch cogs ⚙️ work. The hour is the largest and is therefore the bottom cog and hand, then it’s concentric cogs for minute and seconds.

Or maybe I’m mistaken.

The diameter of the pinon that the hands fit on corresponds to the gear they are attached to. So the sequence off installation is fixed. Hour hand on button, then minute, then second (for a three hand watch).

It's you. (Just kidding!). Sounds like Schrodinger's Cat.

You could look at a regulator, there was an inexpensive one available on Amazon for a while (Escapement Time or Hroudland I think).

On some watches, it feels like it doesn't happen because the hour hand is so much broader than the minute hand or the minute hand is skeletonized in some way. On my GSAR, I have to do a double take sometimes when I glance down for the time because the hour and minute hands are exactly the same aside from length, so the hour can hide completely behind the minute. Digital watches are laughing at us for even talking about this.

Exactly. It's like as if the hour hand went missing for a sec. Haha

The Hamilton Khaki Pilot Day Date has a way around this. The hands are skeletonized in opposition to each other. When they overlap, they "complete" each other.

A while ago now. It was featured in Interstellar (2014) and I believe was already out for a while before that. Maybe 2008/2009?

Also, this is one that flips the hands.
