He thinks that the fluted bezel is yellowing too much from 2 years of wearing, and worried that this watch is not real. Can anyone share your view please?
I think Rolex uses palladium for their white gold just to avoid that discoloration to happen. I’m sure it could go yellow at some point, but it should take many years for that to happen (and a lot of wear). I’d definitely take the watch to an expert.
My dad had a yellow gold Datejust (fluted) and its bezel turned bronze with the years, but it took over 30 years of wear and being out with the elements
This dial configuration with hash marks but no numbers along the outer edge is seen only on the 36mm version. 41mm DJs dials with this dial all have numbers and hash marks.
Any sort of tarnishing or discoloration on Rolex's white gold (proprietary allow) fluted bezel is a red flag that the watch isn't authentic, IMO.
It's hard for me to see the dial clearly as the crystal is rather smudged but Rolex's fluted motif dials exhibit a sunburst effect that spans alternating trapezoids in the motif. If your friend can't see a sunburst effect, that'd be another red flag.
Also the hands look to be a bit to chunky (wide) to my eyes.

I would take that right to an AD to send in for service, it's either a fake or a manufacturer error.
It’s probably legit .It happens with white gold over time. The alloy is mixed with nickel, silver etc but it’s natural yellow is always in there
I'm no expert but it does not look authentic to me.

Not heard of that happening before to any DJs with a fluted bezels. AD should confirm
where did he buy and what did he pay? That will tell the story

He bought it from a grey market store. Brand new, around USD 10.5k, in 2022
Looks good nice contrast in colour 👌

Rolex use grey gold which is uniformly 'white' all the way through, no yellowing.

2022 was near the peak of the market and 10.5k is low for fluted bezel, motif dial even now. I'd have doubts. He should authenticate
Is nobody looking at the rest of the watch other than the fluted bezel? Look at the sloppy hour markers, the misalignment of the rehaut...am I crazy?

More specific about the hour marker pls?
As for the rehaut, photos cant justify the alignment or misalignment. Some parts of my rolex would look off too if referencing the photo only
More specific about the hour marker pls?
Sure. Look at the sloppiness of the lume on the hour markers.
Look at the hour markers on my ordinary Seiko SNXS77. They look wonderful.
Maybe it's just a bad picture of the Rolex. Provide a good one and we can tell better.
Something is wrong here......JMO
