Coolest birthday gift from my son.

So for those of you who don't know I don't have a traveling watch case or roll. I travel with my watches shoved in my socks and those socks are jammed into my toilet bag. When I went to the WC meet-up a couple months ago. I took my watches in plastic sandwich bags shoved into a cloth bag. I guess that's just how I roll.

I guess my son Eddie @eddie1 who went with me might have been a little embarrassed. And so for my birthday he got the this effing cool Wolf watch roll. One of the best things about watch collecting for me is getting to do it with my sons. These are memories that get stamped into our watches and our lives.

So today I'm trying it out. I'm filling it up and taking it with me this weekend. We're heading up the Bay Area to go to Topper (a multi brand AD) for some watch repair and some shopping. My Norqain isn't keeping time (I dropped it) and the bracelet on the SeaQ needs adjusting. Afterwords we're heading to Oakland for the night to go to a concert. Bad Religon is playing.

I guess the real reason for this post isn't just to show off my new watch roll or telling you I've got a coolest son but to thank him for getting it for me. Eddie thank you for the birthday present. Love you! Maybe I'll see you at Toppers today.

It's cool right. We get to keep them around a little longer.

I would've just given my dad more socks. 😂

Best gifts come from those who know us best.

I, too, am a “make do” sort of guy. I traveled with watches in socks in old eyeglasses cases. Easy to find a way to make do, but once you have a built-for-purpose thing you usually realize the advantages.

And lovely to know who’s paying attention to you and your interests. ❤️

Thank you. It is really nice to have something made for a specific use.

I'm glad I wasn't alone. Thanks for the validation. The watch roll is much better.

What a thoughtful son and great story— my wife and kids also surprised me with a watch roll this past holiday season.

There's nothing better than to have your family behind you and know what you like. Most years I hear I'm the worst to shop for because I have everything I want.
