Engine turned bezel and fluted bezel

What is the difference between engine turned bezel and fluted bezel in Rolexes? They look the same to me. 😅

Engine turned bezels are usually made from steel, are less shiny and look like this

Fluted bezels are made from gold or platinum, are very sparkly and look like this

I know that an engine turned part is done by hand and is easy to ruin. I’m not sure if that is the case for Rolex…whether it’s marketing and not actually engine turned or if both are engine turned, but it is implied that one is made by hand and the other by machine.

In theory a fluted bezel can be mated to a matching tool to turn for removal. That was the original ideal. So depth is a huge difference.
