Unsung Hero

Although not a watch but on the general subject of horology I thought it was time to big up the humble bedside clock and alarm.

This little fella has been with me 25+ years and never put a foot wrong. Its looking good at the moment after a liberal application of furniture polish. It needs a battery about every other leap year and it has the accuracy that would make a Grand Seiko quartz & Longines VHP owner weep with envy. You set the time as per usual but with the second hand, a new way of being spot on is to pop in the battery just as the pips go (on radio 4 UK).

It ticks very loud, that I have got use to. The lume is still going strong and it even has a light ! Most importantly the alarm is not too loud and not too quiet. Its the goldilocks of alarms ! It has survived many a spillage and although not waterproof I would say it is, down to the depth of about 2mm.

A mans bedside table says a lot about him, and here resides the Acctim along with my kindle, a jar of Vic's vapour rub and a lamp, along with a bottle of water.

So lets give recognition and praise to our horological friend, and forget about the latest super watch, if just for a few moments.

Looks great, I love watches for sure but I do like a clock and wall clocks.

The 2 millimeters water resistance part cracked me up 🤣👌

Nice clock! My bedside clock is a Marathon desk clock which has a smooth sweep seconds hand. It’s really nice to look at when working.
