SOTC - The Seikos - And what’s to come!

It’s the end of the year and time for State of the Collection posts! I obviously own way more Seikos than I do anything else. The only brand that’s close is Casio and I may or may not do a SOTC for them later. But for now… The Seikos! As I’ve mentioned in other posts, I was raised a Seiko fan and my love for them has far surpassed my father’s. I keep buying other stuff and going back. Just so much to choose from and the prices are (often) pretty reasonable. I haven’t ventured too high end yet plan to a bit this year.

I finally assembled my collection on their “usual” straps or bracelets for a boring in-the-box family phone. Most of these are pretty safe to stay. I hoped to add another before the end of the year but I’m paralyzed as to which. Can’t decide between two so it’ll probably be early next year. If you want to skip my TED Talk, the list is down below left to right, row by row. Better pictures of most are around here on my page.

What’s next? I’ve sold off a couple of my non-Seikos to get a couple of cheaper pieces and plan to continue that to a degree. I’d like to fill that box by the end of the year then do one-in-one out.

The first two I want in fairly short order… An SRPE67 because I want the black dial with the brushed bezel and I’ll add a proper bracelet for a true GADA. I thought the blue one would be that but it’s kind of a scratch magnet and it looks kinda dressy on the Jubilee but I like that. And a Mini Turtle before they get expensive. In February two very important things happen. I will hit one year sober and I get the huge tax refund that my toddler gives me every year. So an SPB185 is definitely going to be purchased. Been wanting one forever but was saving it for a special occasion so I knew I’d keep it. I always seem to sell my most expensive watches. Maybe a green Willard or an Alpinist GMT also if I can swing it. I need another green watch. And if I ever miraculously have the scratch when the right 8/10 SARB033 comes up that’ll get done.

Cheaper stuff? Maybe a yellow 5 GMT or yellow Speedtimer. Those 5 Field GMT’s look pretty sweet also. And SKX007 would be nice. And I’m sure Seiko will tempt me with more… Hoping for a Presage that drifts a bit more to the GADA territory and some more Speedtimer models.

Great collection! Love the DressKX on the jubilee. I own the Seiko Tank too, but don’t have many opportunities to wear it

Nice collection 👍but have you passed on the Willard?

Again, I think, legally, we have to say that other watch brands are available.

Same. Definitely my least worn but served its purpose of making me know I’ll never spend the money on a real Tank.

Eventually for sure. Just never had the urge to cash ratios coincide yet.

I don’t believe you.

I don’t believe you.

What you choose to believe, and the reality of what is actually available to you, are two separate things. One can lead a horse to water, but cannot force it to drink. It is even harder to drown said horse as well.

They are willful beasts.
