Seiko SRPE65… Got it for under $180. Are Seikos the ultimate daily beaters??

The truth of the matter is I don’t always want to beat up my more expensive watches. Don’t get me wrong I wear them often but there’s something special about slapping on an affordable watch that is mechanical, has decent fit and finish(for the price), and has good wearing dimensions.

This watch for me is the perfect beater. Can pair nice with an uncle seiko bracelet like I have it here or work with a variety of 20mm straps I already have. One might argue that a gshock or Casio of some sort is the true ultimate daily. In most cases, I personally gravitate towards a mechanical watch if I can, although, I respect the value of a super tough gshock for certain activities. I guess if someone asked me on record “Is a cheap reliable seiko auto the best daily beater or a gshock?” I would probably answer “Yes.”

You know I honestly think that is such a versatile watch it would work for almost every situation. I had one with a blue dial and once I replaced the bracelet It was a top-tier looker. The slimmer, non-top-heavy case (compared to the SRPD/SKX) made it a joy to wear.

I agree! It was hard for me to choose between this green dial and the blue

I have 13 Seikos priced from $60 to $180. I don't baby them but I don't bash them either, and they've all held up well. The dressier ones are worn less often because they have a more formal look, but the others are fine for everyday.

I have the Japan made SBSA057 (black dial, brushed bezel) and it’s absolutely stunning.

I’m waiting for the same Uncle bracelet that you have (still in customs) but in the meantime it also looks amazing on the Oyster Miltat.
