Another amazing model from the 1970s. The Hisonic from Citizen is a tuning fork watch. Electric coils inside cause a small metal tuning fork to vibrate 720x per second. This vibration is then transmitted to the movement via a very fine metal finger. This makes the second hand move smoothly without stopping. The movement was developed by Bulova and licensed to Citizen. So if you are looking for a cheaper Accutron, look for the Citizen Hisonic. These movements were later replaced by quartz movements, as they are more robust and reliable and also cheaper to manufacture. You can actually hear a humming sound when you hold the watch to your ear. Fascinating technology!

Beautiful watch. I have a Bulova from the same time. It also has day an date, and the crown at 4. I might dare to say it is the same movement.

Most of their catalogue is meh, but they do have some great models and interesting technologies.

I have to admit my lust for the 1970s pretty much drives my watch cravings. And in this case my love of 1970s watches and my love of Accutrons.
I have a Omega f300 with a very similar movement. My kids always want to press it to their ear it if I wear it. Very smooth hypnotizing movement for sure!
