Sunday Funday

Just discovered WC and looking forward to engaging with the community. It's been challenging to find unpretentious and non-toxic watch groups on FB, with Christopher Ward Enthusiasts being the exception for me.

Today the Vario Popeye gets some wrist time, this a super fun dial and my first jump hour complication. It's also my first Vario and first Seagull movement, interested to see how accurate it is. The hour jumps exactly at midnight, so that's a promising start. Case and dial finishing is pretty good for the price point (USD400).

Ohhh I love this - I remember Popeye as a kid so this brings a giant smile. One would think that as a sailor, he’d find himself on a dive watch at the very least 😂 That said, some really nice/crisp details here! Also welcome to the Crunch!

Vario are a great company.  I have had many long discussions with Ivan and he is a real vintage watch geek.  They do make some lovely products.

Welcome to WC. I love this Vario, it's such a tasteful amount of playfulness and elegant quirky display of complications. Hard not to smile back at this dial.

Popeye! I grew up on those cartoons!

I feel like I should own one of those if only because of the sheer amount of spinach I consume on a weekly basis.

Hey @watchitis thanks for your post! Some reviewers mentioned troubles with hour switches that happened sometimes before, sometimes after 60 minutes period. Good to hear that it works well in your case.
I want to hunt the one with Popeye’s hand indicating minutes and rotating spinach can ;)

Careful with that, too much spinach can lead to kidney stones due to the high amount of calcium in it.  ;)

Thanks for the heads up. It’s my main source of calcium, so I’m too worried about it. Rest assured, though; if I do develop a kidney stone, I’ll be sure to come back and tell you I should have listened better.
