Ataelier Haute Complication LTD /99 pieces.

Just added to my collection AHC is a new brand introduced by the prodigy of FP Journe Vladimir Negault. It’s hand wound and offers GMT feature. The watch is spectacular in person, and wears nicely. The strap however does not match my skin tone and I will be replacing it asap with a deployment buckle.

My experience after a week of wearing the AHC. You always take a gamble when you get in 1st on a new watchmakers 1st watch with in-house movements. This time I think this time the gamble resulted in 50-50 results.

The bad.

  1. It stops when I set it down for the night, not because it runs out of power, but for some other reason. Looks like they lack quality control.

  2. Crown is horrible to use. It's hard to wind and hard to pull out and set the time. Turn the crown forward to move the TZ disk and minute hands, turn it backwards (towards you) to set the hour hand. You cannot move the minute hands backwards.

  3. It takes a couple of turns of the crown to engage the minute hand.

The Good.

  1. Unique way to represent home and away time, with day night indicator.

  2. I really dig the skeletonized hour and minute hands, the quarter markers and in general the readability is great.

  3. Overall dial design is beautiful, I would wear it as a dress watch or a sports watch.
