Rolex’s MASSIVE Step Into Retail - Acquires Bucherer Retailer

Rolex just made a ground-breaking deal to acquire global retailer, the Bucherer Group, which owns both Bucherer and Tourneau retail stores. Given that Bucherer and Rolex have been working together for over a century, it’s understandable why Bucherer accounts for the largest single portion of Rolex and Tudor sales in the world - a pie that Rolex obviously wants a bigger piece of (~32% to be exact). This is a massive step for the horological juggernaut, who has limited experience in the game of retail sales. With that said, there’s a lot of skepticism about the deal.

It’s easy to see this going bad for Rolex. Will this move alienate other retail outlets, who previously saw Rolex as a supplier rather than a competitor? What about the other brands that are sold in Bucherer stores? A conflict of interest arising?

Want to know our prediction? Bucherer sales drop significantly over the next 2-3 years as conflict with other brands emerge… Watch this space!

As a Rolex fanboy, I am all for the move. ADs have been assigning watches to their small group of big time customers and also, using the popularity of Rolex to push other products and brands. If I am Rolex, I will be pissed when ADs should be helping me to out to a bigger customer base. I hope this move put the other ADs on alert.

This doesn’t seem to be the most up-to-date news.

I think Rolex is to clever to make a huge mistake. They now have even more control over prices and sales of their watches. And Bucherer will receive more Rolexes so they can pull more customers in their stores.

It can be a problem with other watches that are sold at Bucherer, but i think they don´t want to miss this huge retail institution word wide. They will find a solution, that is ok for everybody.

Hard to disagree with that tbh
