Paiget's Polo 79

It’s been 45 years since Piaget dropped their game-changing ‘sports elegant’ (or spelegant, as I prefer) watch, the Polo. Now, to the delight of old and new fans of the brand, they’ve released the updated Polo 79, an all-gold, brushed-and-polished nod to a timepiece that represents the decadent class of the 1980s more than perhaps any other.

Furthermore, this is probably the best example of the ‘bracelet watch’ that Yves Piaget worked so hard to popularize throughout his career and with its integrated bracelet, it’s not hard to see why. Piaget’s own calibre 1200P1 sits within the 38mm x 7.3mm case, beating at 21,600 bph with a 44-hour reserve. These are impressive stats for a watch that’s primarily made to look (and feel) good, proving that the new Polo 79 is every bit as practical as it is pretty and going a long way to justify its $73,000 price tag.

While I wonder who this watch is really for, I’m sure the resurgence of interest in the ‘Money Never Sleeps’ aesthetic and the bubbling dress watch trend have bolstered the Piaget sales team’s confidence in the timing of this release. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the polished ‘lugs’ that run across this watch are technically called ‘gadroons’. Now you know.

Thank you for that my friend, take the gadroons off,put the watch down to £7000 instead of house price 😬😂what we're they thinking, and you have a nice watch.
