Mysterious Code "Furlan Marri" homage review
This is an underrated and pretty unknown watch that was purchased on AliExpress from the Certified Distributor Watch Store after seeing it in a YouTube video.
The watch is an homage to the Furlan Marri microbrand that took the enthusiast watch world by storm in 2022 when it was launched as a Kickstarter project priced under US$500. The Furlan Marri was an homage that took design echos from Patek Philippe watches of yesteryear. This watch takes design echos from both Patek Philippe and Furlan Marri but however cost me less than US$100 including shipping and uses the same Seiko/TMI VK64 meca-quartz chronograph movement which is an outstanding bargain in comparison!! The other difference is that the Furlan Marri offers a box dome sapphire crystal whereas this watch only uses K1 hardened mineral crystal in a prominent dome (reminiscent of acrylic dome crystals). Also, the genuine leather strap is of serviceable quality with quick release spring bars but is nothing particularly special. The annoying thing is that it uses a 21mm lug width, which severely restricts after-market sources and choices. The dial, case and display case back is where this stands out. After wearing the watch continuingly for over a week, I've found it to be more of casually worn watch due to the size (40mm), thickness (partially due to the height of the K1 crystal), longish lug to lug length combined with relatively straight lugs ensure that it can be difficult to wear under a shirt cuff. Nevertheless, these are minor criticism when this watch costs 20% of the genuine item...
