South Korean Watches?

Hey everyone!

I’m out here in Seoul and what a great city with excellent food and friendly people. Definitely a cold time of the year to visit however 🥶

Does anyone have any South Korean watch recommendations? I’m hardly seeing any watch shops around and so I’m assuming there aren’t many made here but curious your thoughts.

Thanks!

I know of Pitzmann but couldn't say for sure if they'd have any locations around the city. They're still a pretty new brand.

By Korean watches, do you mean watch stores? If so, there are stores in Lotte Mall or Shinsegae on Myeongdong among others. You can find watch stores (Rolex, Omega, Breitling, IWC, Tag, Longines etc) in most huge malls, but I suggest going to Myeongdong street for the atmosphere.

More along the lines of microbrands out here but Myeongdong is great! Appreciate the suggestion.

I think the channel „low horology“ on YouTube might have what you’re looking for

·

Just don't buy a watch in Itaewon. That might be a "South Korean watch", but it's not the kind of watch you're looking for🤣

·

I don't know many, but these 3 comes in mind for me

Pitzmann

Varon Chiri

Valérach watches

I don’t think the Korean microbrands have a storefront, at least I haven’t found them. If you want to go off the beaten path, check out Sewoon Square (세운스퀘어) near Jongno. There are a number of watch dealers in the building, most are on the 2nd floor but the first floor has a few.

Welcome to Korea!

Hope you have a wonderful time here.

Fortunately(?) weather is much better than last week.

Pitzmann is a good one. You won't see them in shops though.

Valerarch recently had exhibition but does not own shop at the moment.

Minhoon Yoo is an amzaing independent watchmaker but does not have shop though you might want to see his works through instagram.

For general watch shops, you can visit Shinsaegae Department Store near by Namsam (if that is where you are staying). From all department stores, prices will be close to retail.

If you are staying near Namsan, visit Grand Hyatt Hotel for Oris Boutique.

For used watch market, Saewoon Square is one of the most famous. Their you can find used Patek, Rolex, and many luxury watches as well as few ADs including Nomos, Sinn, Oris, etc.

Korea is not a place with good histories in horology but in developing stage (I hope🤣)

Let me know where you located, I will let you know the closest shops:)

Great, now I want to know if NORTH Korea has a wrist watch! If so, I need one for my collection!

Excellent insights thank you! We are near Apgujeong-Dong area.

Apgujeong "Galleria" has many luxury watch shops including Patek, Lange, Vacheron, Breguet and more.

Hi-Shigan is one of the largest watch dealer especially for luxury watches and worth visit.

With all that, if you are with your family and want to experience Korea,

The Hyundai (Yeouido station)

Gangnam Shinsaeage (Express bus terminal station)

Lotte world Tower( Jamsil Station)

These three will have good food(not cost efficient but good food!), watch shops and can feel some Korea!

Have a great day:)
