Happy New Year to y'all! I found out about this through Dave Sergeant's suggestion on this Fratello gift giving article. I got into watches early this year and became quite the enthusiast when I had a chance to visit boutiques from the likes of Lange and Breguet.
I wanted to learn more about the mechanics and what went behind AL Breguet's invention, so I treated myself to one of these :) I also love the digits display from the Zeitwerk. Wrist shot and Lange tax from when I visited the boutique and tried one on.
The build process wasn't without some hurdles. Some pieces were a little thick which caused the balance spring to get jammed, and sometimes the tourbillon stops randomly and needs a little nudge to get going again (I suspect just due to slight imperfections in assembly, as I am clearly not a master watchmaker)
Some of the specs: 179 unique parts, 338 pieces total, beats at 1hz so twice per second

I saw the same article and immediately went on the site to buy some Ugears stuff! Unfortunately, I have the mechanical know-how of a lemur, at best, so I ended up getting 2 of the "appropriate for kids age 6+" - the fidget ships and fidget X-mas ornaments. Even those were too complex for me, and my 6 year-old had to complete the build.
I can't imagine how hard it must have been to build the tourbillon! Looks awesome!
This is pretty damn cool. I just might pick this up. My kids are into Legos, they can help me with the build!
