Any Captain Willard fans out there?

An impressive piece in my opinion. Robust build, impressive power reserve of 70hrs and a bit of history😊.

Hell yeah!! Love the Willard (ignore the Laco , only pic I've got of both my Willards together that I've got on my phone & I'm at work)

Also had 4 Royal Enfield's ( 350 Bullet, 2x500 Bullets & a 535 Continental GT) - love 'em. (Got a Speed Twin now)

I'm a simple man, I see a Royal Enfield, I click like. 👌🏻

The originals are bad either, here's my 6105-8119 from 1973

Mine will be here this week. I bought an Alpinist GMT, but as soon as I took the lid off the box, I put it right back as the dimensions of the Alpinist GMT are horrible. Called the AD and told them I wanted to send it back. They asked if I was interested in anything else and I mentioned being curious about the Willard, and they said since I got 20% off the cost of the Alpinist that they’d offer the same discount on the Willard.

Couldn’t say no to that. 😂

This is a grail watch for me. I have a steeldive knockoff which I dearly love. But the real deal would be so cool. What movement do these have in them these days?

This is one of my new Captain Willard builds. I sandblasted the case myself. The dial is Ando Ando Ando and the hands are from One Second Closer. I figured out a couple ways to get red (or any color day/date rings) on the cheap. You can either color them with a marker (Sharpie on plastic discs and water based markers on metal discs - sharpie eats the numbers off metal discs) OR, for a less permanent and even easier method, you can simply put a little piece of clear packing tape over the date window on the back of the dial (sticky side facing the front) and then just color the tape with a sharpie. I had to figure this out because it's impossible to get day wheels in alternative colors. If you touch the sticky part of the tape at all it'll smudge.

Fresh off of the build table...

I also figured out that if you get a big rainbow pack of sharpies you can transform any white ceramic dial numbers and any white painted hands (lume or no lume) into any color you want. I assume you could color a whole dial as well but I haven't done that yet. There are lots of awesome straps in every color in the world so if you're having trouble matching up parts for a seamless build, just get white ones, whip out the sharpies, and go to town. To achieve fluorescent yellow I first colored the bezel insert with yellow, let that dry, then used light green over that. I did the same thing with the hands. The lume still shines.
