Honestly… if you’re handy enough you can even try to do it yourself. The tools aren’t too expensive and it’s surprisingly easy to do. I built one last year and it went incredibly well (bear in mind, I have absolutely no experience as a watchmaker😂).

Stick with Seiko’s NH line for the movement. Affordable, easy to install, modify, and there are A TON of options for hands, dials and cases.

I would probably buy a Hamilton Khaki Field automatic or a Tissot PRX 35mm.
