Wristwatches and Formula 1

Hello everyone,

with a weekend with no Formula 1 race, my family and I were catching up on Netflix‘ Drive to Survive. As a watch nerd it was obvious that Alpine Team were wearing Bell & Ross watches (très patriotique 🇫🇷 ). I assume that those probably are the most affordable Formula 1 Team watches available, right?

The new BR 05 Chrono A523 will be priced at 7.100 CHF and is available here: https://www.bellross.com/en-gb/BR-05-CHRONO-A523-STEEL-BRACELET

Still, what are the watches related to Formula 1 that you know, own or took pictures of? Bring out the good stuff, looking forward to see 🏁

Personally, I owned the IWC AMG Petronas Watch. Past tense - I traded it because if you’re down to facts, the lume is disappointing. The poor power reserve of 42 hours in addition with the huge height of the watch made me feel like IWC wasn’t even trying to fill the gap between product and price with anything else than Formula 1 spirit.

But all things aside, one thing this watch gave me was fun. I love the color teal (hey @Max ) and seeing that the second market prices for the 2023 IWC Petronas Miami went down under list price made me a bit nervous 😅 That Miami Pink strap with this watch is just awesome.

Anyway, let’s share what Formula 1 related watches we have here! 🏎️

The only watch I have related to motor racing is the Seiko Giugiaro, the personal choice of Ayrton Senna. While other watch brands sponsors teams and such, I feel like the personal choice of one of the Greatest drivers ever is really cool!

I have learned that AlphaTauri has partnered with Casio Edifice, which made their chrono effectively the cheapest possible, officially licensed Formula 1 watch:

The EQB 1200 AT 1A was priced around 550 Euros when it was still available.

That Mercedes F1 IWC is awesome and that’s my favorite F1 watch partnership. They also were first with the printed watch on the driver’s glove.

Williams is with Bremont, Aston Martin with Girard Perregaux, at Red Bull you can spot lots of Tag Heuer Monacos… I don’t care much about Richard Mille grabbing what feels like the rest of the field though.

I can recommend Kym Illman’s YouTube channel, he has a F1 watch video every now and then! https://youtu.be/EhHBYqx3iOQ
