1966 Grand Seiko 5722-9990 | Another Pillar My Watch Collection

A Grand Seiko was always a grail watch consideration but it was always case of not finding one that that "spoke" to me. I had just gotten into vintage Seiko's and found that I was drawn to the watches of the 1960's and it wasn't just Seiko's.

When I came across this watch, it not only spoke but screamed to me. It struck me like a lightning bolt. I'm not one to make impulse purchases and this Grand Seiko was no different. I sat on this watch for over a week and read up on the 57GS family of Seiko watches. After checking out the other variants, I knew this was the one for me.

Its elegance born from its minimal design. From the domed crystal to the refined dial. The sweep of the seconds hand and overall minty condition. This 56 year old, forever watch is even more stunning in person than could be conveyed through a picture. Puts a smile on my face every time I look at it... and that's what I imagine a grail watch should do.

As for vintage Seiko dress watch experience from what I own: the 44KS & 57GS both with large lugs wear larger than the 36-37mm size on my larger wrists get more wrist time than my 56 KS Chronometer. All 3 running very well for their age: '70-56KS 5625-7040 , '65-57GS 5722-9990, '64-44KS 44-9990
