Tudor Pelagos LHD / Does it scratch the itch?

From a comfort standpoint?

I have never been attracted to the current Rolex sport models, however I tried on a GMT destros on jubilee and was blown away by how comfortable the watch was. I want a watch that comfortable on bracelet!

Remove the GMT function, all of the Rolex hoopla happening and so on. I thought hey, maybe I’ll just order up a DJ two tone 41mm (nobody wants those) on jubilee and get a splash of color on the dial. I about fell over when I saw the retail. I looked at two tone jubilee as I have a Submariner, a mid size President and should hopefully be getting the call for a 36mm OP soon (was trying to get some variance on bracelet, had a SS DJ 36 on hidden clasp jubilee and it was nice, but every time I looked at it, I didn’t feel like it was worth the money, it didn’t excite me). I’m not necessarily a Rolex fan boy btw, just some pieces I have or have received.

Anyhow, if you are still reading, thank you and do you believe that even though it’s a more toolish watch and not on jubilee that the Tudor Pelagos LHD could match the comfort and fun of the Rolex green/black destros GMT on jubilee? I’m thinking it could offset the thinness by being titanium, it has excellent bezel movement, the adjustable and stretch clasp matching jubilee comofort or suppleness and being from the same house/family be a fun alternative with the LHD being exactly the same and a splash of red and off white markers to soften the experience?

My AD has one if I want it.

Oh and the Rolex is 2 yrs out probably at retail if they don’t discontinue it and I don’t/won’t/can’t pay the gray market price these are fetching.

Thoughts on the Tudor or a comfortable bracelet alternative (must have a date, so no Tudor BBs with the lovely new jubilee, I tried…)

Speaking as a GMTII and Pelagos owner. The Pelagos may be the best Tudor there is, but it couldn’t be more different than the GMTII, so hate to say it, but no it won’t scratch the itch if you want that. If the itch was your back, it might scratch the top of you foot.

Couple items; weight. Titanium vs steel. You will feel it. I love it, but others equate weight to quality (they’re wrong).

Second is the bracelet. The jubilee might be the best bracelet on the market from a comfort perspective. The Pelagos bracelet is good and the clasp is awesome, but it will not have the same feel.

GMT. Do you need it? Will this be your only watch? Setting a date on a the GMTII is a total pain in the ass. The Pelagos wins the pick up and go contest.

Ultimately, they are two entirely different watches made for different things. I wear the Pelagos more than the Batgirl, but that’s me.

Greta write up and you hit a couple of the points.

It def isn’t or won’t be my only watch. I don’t need a GMT, but want a complication and I already have a Submariner that I don’t wear. The jubilee bracelet is one of top reasons I fell for this watch. The Batgirl/man and Pepsis colors in ceramic are simply not to my personal liking, the LHD is unique and I like that. I never wear my Sun and don’t know why. I can’t shake the jubilee, I had it on a DJ and the watch just didn’t wow me.

GMTs I was looking at the GS 9F quartz and or something like a JLC variant or hometime…. I could always say the heck with it and get a new Seiko 5 GMT.

I should say that even if I got the Tudor, I’d probably keep it and get the Rolex GMT down the road whenever it comes in.

Have you handled one of these?

Have you handled one of these?

I have only handled the regular, WT version. Fantastic value for a tool watch. Unique tie to Niel Amrstrong actually.

I placed the pre order for this the second it came out. Should be shipping here soon. I'll be putting out a NWA PSA when it does.

Edit: I also recently found a 34mm vintage world timer in eBay from OG Wolbrook. Still runs, needs a little TLC tho.

I'll always vote Tudor.
