Like many others I like car's as well as watches. At the moment I have a Subaru in my ownership for almost 8 years - basically part of my life at this stage it seems - it's an incredible car but I am longing for something else as I am not getting any younger and this live for the moment is where I am at... But I don't want to sell my Subaru, it's reluctant but I think my hands are unfortunately tied as I don't have space for 3 car's, nor a garage. Have people been in this situation where selling something that had such an enormous impact on themselves, as mundane as it seems.

Iโm in the process of selling my first car right now. A 2004 Jetta TDi.
Itโs definitely difficult to let things go sometimes. I bought an X3 though and unfortunately donโt need two cars.

My Subaru is a unicorn, so once I sell I know I'll never see it ever again - was it more readily available I wouldn't be so troubled as it were

Thatโs fair. That would make it even more difficult. The Jetta is just sentimental for me lol.
With few exceptions, I try not to get tied down to physical belongings. I have had cars I loved, but there are always better ones; Be it more comfortable, more refined, better handling, etc. You will always have the memories, but as I have got older, especially with cars, life is too short to sacrifice daily comfort and amenities. If I want to make sacrifices, I buy a second car that is perfectly suited for such as a toy.
I'm a technician and with how the car market is now if what you have isn't nickel and diming you I recommend to keep what you have, I was getting ready to look at an F150 but the truck that I have still runs and drive like new and it's an 08 so I keep saving or buy more watches and other stuff that makes me happy haha
My take is that when I buy a car, I am committing to that car until it no longer makes financial sense.
Before I made the above determination, I did the same basic thing you are contemplating and for me, BIG mistake. My vehicle was paid off, no mechanical issues, but then the new hotness came out and I stupidly bought that new hotness. Did it improve my life? No, it made it worse.
That said, your decision does not affect me personally, so do as you will.

I tend to agree but I can't do this second car thing.. otherwise I would keep it

My car doesn't own me anything and never lets me down, despite it's 17 years of age - my decision is difficult but mine alone. Before I had this Subaru I had a Mercedes CL55 AMG, supercharger..so 550bhp. It was terrible, I had it a month and got my money back. Then got this Subaru. I have done due diligence, I think.. with the car I want next

I hear you, but there is some middle ground between the two. :-)

Ooooooh. Yeah, I'd have a hard time letting it go.

Tell me about it...
Letting go of watches at first is hard but itโs all part of the journey I have brought my collection down from like 15 to 6 to focus on quality over quantity and am going to take off one more to make 5 most likely

Got a 4runner with 225k and still running great. Iโll be holding off as well. These Toyota trucks seem to run forever with regular maintenance.
