Grand Seiko SBGA027 VisualEssay / Review

Hey Crunchers. John again. I’m back with another video talking about Japan and my first #grandseiko purchase. I didn’t get to save up as much as I wanted, so didn’t get the chance to buy any of my grails, but I found this SBGA027 and fell in love. Check it out! Lemme know what you think.

Beauty of a watch!

Honestly, this is one of my grails... Enjoy!

Awesome video. I was fortunate to be able to live in Tokyo for 4 years for work. This video brought me back to my favorite place in the world. I was able to pick up a GS in Ginza, a Seiko in Ueno and an Omega and Seiko in Fussa while living there.

Beauty watch and awesome video, John!

Hugely envious of your trip - it’s what I want to do.

And congratulations on your purchase. I just got my first non-vintage GS and am loving it (pics below and of my vintage one).

I completely got it when in your review you said “ and the bracelet it’s … fine”. I’m the very same it does the job but would really have to be something to merit any more comment alongside these watches.

I also concur when said about eliminating the desire for x, y, z. My x, y, z may be different to yours but when I think of all the things that I don’t now want I can almost convince myself that I have saved money! 😉

I hope you get many years pleasure and enjoyment from your GS and I am envious that is has memories of your trip to go with it. One day!?

These watches are stunning! I love the case back on the blue dial modern GS. What’s the reference number on that? I’ve seen it before. Yea the bracelet… it does the job haha.

SBGY009

It came out a while ago (late 2022) and was a limited edition. It was well out of reach pricewise and I assumed they would sell out.

One came up second hand a few weeks ago which reminded me of it. And I was able to get one new at a significant discount which brought it back to be sensible for me - though still a stretch. That’s why I liked your point about all the watches I will never need now - helps me justify it to me 😉 Definitely happy that I took the plunge.
