👧👧👧 Looking for a kids watch 👧👧👧

Long story short, my beloved Sara, 5yo, has starting expressing more and more interest into watches lately.

She right now has a full digital watch from Decathlon that she wanted when we went shopping for a new bike, but i see her longing for a “proper” watch.

Any ideas of what i might shop for, within a, lets say, 100$ budget?

She likes Frozen, but also Spiderman (yeah, quite the conundrum) but lately has been fixating quite a lot on Gabby’s Dollhouse when it comes to picking something ti watch, and is quite into arts&crafts, for all it matters.

The new smaller Blok watches are pretty cool. Good for teaching kids how to tell the time

·

I would suggest Flik Flak from swatch, durable, within budget and has every character a child could dream of 😊

My 3 year old daughter asked if she could look at pink watches on my phone yesterday, obviously everything she liked was over £1000 😂

We got my son a timex with lizards on the face for like £20 last year. He loved it for about a week and hasn't worn it since!

Wow, these are really cool. But i think they are more like an”upgrade” watch after she gets used to it. But indeed, really cool watches for kids!

That’s quite the collection and some really good ideas. Also, never thought about a “pocket” (read as in backpack) watch for kids, also quite cool. Thanks a bunch

Yeah definitely one for when they get older. They're really well thought out.

And readily available in Romania, so a great plus. Found some unicorn ones already :)

To be fair she said she really liked the rainbow daytona in a YT video (said it looks like a unicorn watch and that it would be really cool if i would wear it when we go to her xmas party at the kindergarten) and asked me “when i’m buying it”, lol. So…yeah, totally get the point.

Gul watches 😊

Parchie was started by Cara Barrett (formerly of Hodinkee). Got a couple for some friend’s kids, and they love them. 32 mm with a Velcro strap are perfect 👍

Are you sure she would prefer a kids watch? My older daughter got into watches when she was quite young, but she rejected the kids watches. She wanted a “real” watch and not a toy. I got her one of the smaller Timex Expedition models for women and she loved it. Bonus: INDIGLO. Bonus 2: Very inexpensive and readily available if it need to be replaced.

Now that’s a very good point, something to think about. And she does like the indiglo feature on my expedition chrono… thnks!

Yeah, so far i narrowed it down to Timex or the Swatch flik flak series but @caktaylor is also making a good point (which actually just made my life a bit harder as i was planning for it to be a gift from santa, lol)

·

@J4me5ie @caktaylor @irvingfurfinger i actually found the Swatch Time Together package and was thinking of getting it for the 2 of us, since it would not only be a watch for her but also a matching one for me, so also something we can share, what do you think? I find it interesting.

·

2nd rec for Blok in addition to @melvasaur and the wife just said she thinks they are even better for lewrning how to read the time properly since the hands are color coordinated with the side of the dial/case which has the numbers.

And they indeed look nice.

·

Damn, that is correct. I just realised the hour boxes are a bit skewed and actually start there the hour starts. Lol. Noice! :)

How about a g shock

I don’t have any practical experience with Swatch watches. If you think the style is something you would both like, then it’s probably a good choice. I would hesitate spending so much on a watch for a 5 year old, especially if you don’t know that she’s actually going to wear it long term. I went with something cheap (the Timex) in case my kids decided they didn’t really want to wear watches. While my older girl is a faithful watch-wearer, my younger girl decidedly it wasn’t for her. So, I was only out the cost of a Timex Weekender ($20-$30).

To be fair, i also like the bigger one for myself, lol, that was the point for the 2 of them, one for me, one for her. But indeed, a bit overpriced. Am giving a second look at the Blok ones but also 100$ so a bit steep as well.
