Birth year watch - emanation beyond the machine

As we watch enthusiasts take a step back and look at our collections we are constantly in a state of evaluation, appreciation, and planning. Much like stepping back and scanning your newly detailed vehicle or freshly manicured lawn and gardens, there is a feeling of joy and accomplishment, of appreciation of the work, and the beauty of it all. This birth year watch, however, has given my collection a new and enjoyable emanation that takes me to memories of childhood, of family and friends, and of a much different time in our world. I also think about who wore it, what adventures it has seen, through times of sadness and joy, and how amazing it is that it is still ticking away, keeping time, and still providing enjoyment after all these years. It may have been worn by a groom at his wedding. Or a sailor at sea. Maybe a soldier, or an engineer, or a famous artist. This watch speaks to me in ways that no other watch in my collection can and if you haven't, I encourage you to take that journey and find a birth year watch that is special to you - it will add immeasurable value and enjoyment to your collection. Props to #Whitesalmon for the inspiration for this particular piece.

I took the easy route & went for a Seiko 1970 reissue.

But one day I'll get a genuine birth year watch, probably an Omega.

Lovely. I’ve just looked up my birth year and I have a Bond watch. No, not that Bond watch, or the other one, or that one either. It’s the For Your Eyes only promo watch, it apparently plays the James Bond theme for its alarm. £125, tempted 😂

Great post and amazing choice for your birth year watch 👌

I always thought that a vintage watch is like a bottle thrown in the sea. The message it carries across gets revealed little by little as you wear it and honor its past owner(s). Just imagining what was it’s journey until it ended up in your hands is quite exciting and suspenseful!

I wish you wear it in good health and create your own beautiful memories with it 🙏

Thank you, Kostas, very kind and sentimental words. It really ads a new level of enjoyment to all of this for me. I’m planning on adding a few more vintage pieces to my collection. Godspeed, brother! 💥💪🏻
