Dave, is your father now gone? That’s amazingly ironic that they’re both 1995 Daytonas. Did your dad ever have to have it serviced?
Yes. He had it serviced once…. probably 8 years ago because he left the crown open while taking a shower, and water got in. I won’t quote what he paid, because I think he got screwed on the service from a local Rolex AD. I think it needs service now, as it takes about 8-10 winds before the second hand moves, not to mention, the chronograph doesn’t reset anymore and it seems to run around -6spd. I suspect reset might have been pressed while it was running, which is a known vulnerability. I will be getting it serviced soon.

Well enjoy the piece, Dave. Thank you for sharing and answering my questions. I may hit you up later with other questions. So glad your dad had such a wonderful timepiece and I can’t wait for my dad to have the same!
I always loved the Daytona. My Ist "watch" was an Invicta homage/clone and I loved it. I was in highschool at the time and didn't realize it wasn't an original design. I want a Sub 1st not but I work hard and hope to have a Daytona one day.
Glad to see such a highly coveted watch being used as just a watch.
But, while I appreciate the wear, you gotta clean that bracelet, man. -sincerely, your center link.
😂 I didn’t take a good photo. I was standing near a tree where its twigs were reflecting andt making a shadow that looks like dirt. It actually is quite clean and grime free, but it doesn’t appear so in the photo.
I’m a software engineer and watch enthusiast. I’m not excited about brand or heritage, but rather engineering tech.... spring drive, solar GPS, electrostatic drive, transistor tuning fork regulation,...

My old man is buying a 1995 version of this exact watch. How have you liked it??

This watch was bought in 1995 by my Dad and worn everyday for 27 years. I think he liked it a lot.

@Brennan_T_Williamsin case you’re interested, here is a post I did a while back comparing a series 2 (Zenith) Daytona to a current series 3.
