They kind of go hand in hand now. I started embracing fountain pens and cursive writing around the same time that I began to deep dive into my mechanical watch interest. It also helps that I am into the whole "dark academia" vibe 😉 and am currently designing my personal library/home office for our new home in the spirit of that aesthetic.

One common variable in 🖋️ and ⌚ is materials.
I am fascinated with the use of ceramic, titanium, ceratanium, sapphire, and so forth.
Materials often distinguish 🖋️ as they do ⌚.

If you like anachronisms, then fountain pens and mechanical watches fit the bill. When I was in engineering at school and the new electronic calculators were all the rage, one guy chose to use a slide rule and I admired him for it.

No interest whatsoever in pens, guns, knives, or spoon collecting. Lots of interest in watches, sports, cars, women, music, and travel. (That wasn't in any order) 😎
