3rd and final

Looking for my 3rd and final watch of my collection (I have a GO PanoMaticLunar and a Zenith Covergirl Airweight). And I am looking for a diver.

Have tried on the BB58, didn’t feel the connection for some reason.

Here is my short list:

Squale Sub-39 SuperBlue (or a similar special edition https://whatawatch.es/portfolio/?idx=3) which has a nicer 20mm lug to lug)

Longines Ultra-Chron (want to try it on!)

The next and hopefully thinner Pelagos (or a bracelet version of the FXD), so far my favorite is the LHD

Tudor BBPro

thr next Seamaster 300 (and please get rid of that lollipop second hand, slightly thinner would be wonderful)

In conclusion, and as I am putting down all my thoughts for this post, for some reason the universe is answering my call and telling me to get the Omega Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold (https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/omega-seamaster-300-bronze-gold-introducing)

Do you guys think the universe is making a right call here?

P.S., if Unimatic does another run for the U1-H in Hodinkee grey, I will consider adding a 4th watch to my future collection.

if you check the first review under that Jack Forster article, the dude got a $2.9K USD off from his dealer in AUS. I will take this bronze gold at $8.7K no problem.

Wow...what a collection, those 2 watches are amazing!!! and because of that, I would go and pick something much more original, unconventional .... absolutely nothing wrong with your choices, but against the other 2 you have...has to be something more special in my opinion...Example: A Louis Vuitton TAMBOR, an AQUATIMER from IWC, a PANERAI or maybe a BLANCPAIN....

Now, from the ones on your short list, the ULTRA CHRON looks to die for!!! and much more original than the other choices.

Sorry if I made your job a little harder...😜

Good Luck

Thanks for all the suggestion, and I do like the ultra-chron a lot! Cannot wait to try it on.

First time hearing this brand/model. Looks hot and will do some homework on it now.

I think the reason that the BB58 didn’t feel right to you is that it’s not up to the fit, finish and quality standards of your first two watches.  Those two watches are awesome.  I don’t think you’ll be happy with a third piece that’s not up to that standard, at a minimum.

Pretty much all the watches you listed will be leave you wanting and become the red-headed step child in your collection.

I think you should be looking at GO SeaQ, JLC Polaris, Blancpain… even Rolex to get the fit, finish and feel that you are accustomed to.  With a three watch collection at the caliber you have already started, I can’t imagine you will be satisfied with anything substantially less, like a Squale.

I prefer a vintage diver inspired look that SEAQ, Polaris or Bathyscaphe simply doesn’t deliver. Regular 50 fathoms are too big for me. If Blancpain come out with a production version that’s around 40mm (like the Barakuda) it’ll be on my wish list.

It sounds like the Omega Bronze Gold is what is calling to you most, so I say that is where you should go.

If you are fine without a bracelet option I would say to check out the Seiko SLA055/057. Get a dive watch made by a company known or their dive watches

If BP comes out with another Barakuda or No Rad, I’ll be first on my AD’s list.

These are some of the hottest seiko I have seen. Not sure if I want another watch that has the date window at 4:30. Guess if I can pick I wouldn’t even want it on my zenith revival. Not the biggest deal breaker for me. I am tempted to add SLA055 on my list now.

Some thoughts about why Seamaster 300 Bronze Gold is the front runner of my next watch.

Both my watches have a date window(s) at 4:30 already. I don’t think I want a diver that has a date window anymore. If it does, please be not at 4:30 anymore.

Regarding case material, I have a steel and a titanium, a new material/color case would be a cool addition.

regarding movement, I have got a 4Hz and a 5Hz movement, 3.5Hz coaxial would be a cool addition.

then there is the sandwich dial and 300meter WR,…

After getting the Pelagius 39 which I am really in love with at the moment; and coming back to this post I think some of your recommendations are truly timeless/classic. SEAQ (hope is to have a little more power reserve); Polaris 41mm no date (looking forward for JLC to offer a green lacquered dial); the 38mm Bathyscaphe (wish they come out with a grade 23 titanium version like their 42mm offering). Any of these could become my next watch!
