The pocket watch collection of professor Leonard Shaw

Just visited the Guernsey Museum and found a small display of pocket watches owned once by a professor Leonard Shaw. They were amazing! Sorry for the bad quality photos, the lighting in the display case was not good... More about the collection here!

They look so cool! But maybe when I'm 75 and start wearing suits... 🙃

Earlier this year I went to a museum I went to a museum with a substantial display of peoket watches, many from a similar time period. It was interesting how many were fairly large, bulbous, and decadently ornate, but others from the same time period were remarkably trim and slender. Even when the technology was slightly crude by modern standards, the craftmanship was all impeccable. And, as above, the ones that were breathtaking pieces of art were not relying on any leap of the imagination or mechanical appreciation for the name. They were just plain amazingly beautiful pieces.

The more bulky ones often have music and/or animation in them. But even without all that, the craftsmanship is stunning1

Very cool. What was you favorite watch there? Do you own a PW? What was the biggest mine change about PW
