We couldn't hold back!

Two days ago, our AD phoned to inform me that the Grand Seiko SBGX263 had arrived.

Without delay, I rushed to pick it up. The GS was intended to mark both our 4-year wedding anniversary and our 15-year journey together, set to be celebrated on March 31st...

Coincidentally, I only realized at the eleventh hour that yesterday was Valentine's Day.

My wife had also bought wine, signaling her anticipation. I received the message loud and clear. Needless to say, she was overjoyed with her new watch!

Congratulations GS are definitely the business. Took me a while to find the right one but worth the wait and the journey. Enjoy.

Which one is it?

SBGY009 was really wanting a spring drive without the power reserve on the dial. It’s manual rather than automatic but that’s fine for rotation in a collection and it means it’s thinner, which was good for me as the automatics can be a bit thick and unbalanced on smaller wrists. It actually came out two years ago but was out of reach then; luckily it came back towards me in price while they are still available. If it’s my last ever watch (won’t be) I would not be disappointed.

Hope you had a great anniversary and have many more watches and anniversaries to come.

P.s. my wife and I were also together 11 years before getting married.

I also love the spring drive with power reserve dail on the back!

For me it really disrupts the dial when in front.

I completely agree and am surprised that they continue to persevere with it in the majority of their Spring Drives.

I can only think that people like having it there to advertise that it is a Spring Drive? A bit bizarre as the aesthetics are really spoiled and I don’t really care about what others do or don’t think about my watches.

Thankfully a few more are trickling out now without it so perhaps the message is getting through and, after 10 plus years, the novelty of Spring Drive is diminishing sufficiently that GS are really zeroing in on the aesthetics.

I’m actually at the GS boutique next week (my first ever visit) and I will ask them about this.
