Grand Seiko SBGM221 Review
I bought this watch in June 2022 and it's ticking strong. Best decision I made. Finish still holds and it's eye catching. Not too bling but a class.

The rectangular hour markers are like miniature sculptures with facets and a mirror-finish on the superior surfaces. On the simpler hour markers, you’ll find no fewer than 8 hand-polished facets. On the 12, 6 and 9 o’clock markers, it’s 11 of them… And they are all perfectly executed, with reflections changing from bright white to almost full black, without distortion or flaws. It is just impressive.
The dial of the Grand Seiko Elegance GMT SBGM221 has a warm, glossy ivory colour and is perfectly flat. If you view the dial with a loupe you will appreciate the amazing level of detail that has been invested in every single feature.
Handmade leather strap which is very comfortable to me. I am not sure why people tend to change it.

All in all, there’s so much , I love about the SBGM221 that I still believe it’s the best watch Grand Seiko produces in this price range. And talking about money, this watch retails for EUR 4,800 (incl. taxes) or USD 4,600 (excl. taxes) but the AD offered me 30% discount... Now you can really talk about the pleasure/price ratio, as few watches from established brands can rival it. And that is objectively true.

Such a great watch. This is my favorite GS case by far. Hope they start adding a lot more dial options for it (I love this ivory one, but it would be awesome to get all the other cool GS dials like lake suwa, peacock, snowflake etc as options)

I have the SBGW231, which is very much a 3-hander version of this watch in a 37mm case. I agree with everything you said. They are fantastic watches!
