Watch Type Category

If you had to choose only 1 type of watch category as a do it all and 1 type you’re okay with never owning what would they be? Please share specific models too if you want!

(I.e GMT, Chronograph, Diver, Field, Dress etc.)

Pilot for sure. Useful chronograph. Plus it's a very vague description so I can just wear whatever I want. 🤷

And I'd be happy never owning a dress watch. They are pointless.

Dress, I wear them with jeans and T-shirt or formal gear. Or chrono would also work for me.

Field watch will never be in my collection - I simply don't need all 12 numbers shouting at me from a dull dial.

Chronographs are definitely useful and I love the aesthetic of it! Definitely agree with not needing a dedicated dress watch as almost all the watches in my collection I feel go really nicely with formal attire anyways! 💯

Just looked that watch up! Looks super versatile for any occasion! Great choice 👍

I would wear a sport watch. I would avoid a dress watch.

Diver

I use the bezel to "time stupid stuff" all the time. They tend to be rugged enough to handle alpine lakes, snow fields, hiking, biking, and look just fine in a restaurant. If I had to have one watch, it would be a dive watch

If I could only own one type, I would pick diver without hesitation.

There are lots of types I could do without ever owning. Chrono, Pilot, Field. Even if I own some of them now, they are non essential to me.

I love field/ 3-handers, I see the value in dive. I think chronographs and dress watches are specialized tools that most are fine without having.
