Mismatched straps

I usually stick to the proper widths when I use a strap. But this 18mm perlon works great with the 20mm Versa! It's a proof of concept at least and I don't think I'd do it with my bigger watches. I guess it being a single pass strap probably helps too. Anyone else do this?

Can’t tell the difference as it looks great

To me, it looks pretty fitting. No 2 mm gap whatsoever.

If I actively push on the case there definitely is a gap but when it's just sitting on wrist it centers itself. I'm pretty pleased with it. The Vera itself is so adaptable to different styles of straps it's fantastic.

Are you sure it's 18mm?

Yup! I picked it up for my Seagull 63 a couple of years ago originally

Yep often run 22mm straps on 21mm lugs or 20's on 19's.

I think I had a similar Perlon that was supposed to be 16mm but was way too fat and ended up fitting 18mm better. Then it frayed to an serviceable level and is one of the few things I had to bin.

It looks great with the watch and I wouldn’t have noticed the size if you hadn’t mentioned it. 🙂

If I zoom in, then I see the gap but I have to work at it to see it. Like others here I’ve done the mismatched lug width to strap width combo. Especially if I really like a particular strap to go with a particular watch and no option to get the strap at the right size. Those 16mm lug widths are a pain to shop for, particularly where I am.

The one below is an 18mm strap forced into 16mm lug widths.

Another one that’s forced. Again, 18mm into 16mm space.
